H.R. 3735, Medicare Fraud Enforcement and Prevention Act

If signed into law, the Medicare Fraud Enforcement and Prevention Act would create a pilot program using biometric technology to ensure that all Medicare claims are legitimate. It would also facilitate real-time information sharing between law enforcement agencies, and it would increase the penalties for those convicted of Medicare fraud.

Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (FL-18) introduced this bill on December 19, 2011. It has since been referred to the Committee on Ways and Means.
