Legislative Update for Week Ending April 18, 2014

This week, action on Capitol Hill was slow as Members of Congress adjourned for a spring recess.

Spring Recess Begins

Members of the House and Senate returned to their home states and districts this week for a recess that will last two weeks. They are expected to return to Capitol Hill on Monday, April 28th. Until then, many Members of Congress will attend local events and hold town hall meetings. The Senior Citizens League (TSCL) urges its members and supporters to attend town halls in the coming days, since they are an excellent opportunity for constituents to voice their concerns and have their most pressing questions answered.

The following Members of Congress, among others, will hold town halls before returning to Capitol Hill on April 28th: Sen. Mark Begich (AK), Sen. Jerry Moran (KS), Sen. Ron Wyden (OR), Sen. Michael Crapo (ID), Sen. Mike Lee (UT), Rep. Paul Broun (GA-10), Rep. Lynn Jenkins (KS-2), Rep. Jim Sensenbrenner (WI-5), Rep. Terri Sewell (AL-7), Rep. Susan Brooks (IN-5), Rep. Paul Cook (CA-8), Rep. Tim Huelskamp (KS-1), Rep. David Jolly (FL-13), Rep. Paul Gosar (AZ-4), Rep. Ted Yoho (FL-3), Rep. Diane Black (TN-6), Rep. Steve Womack (AR-3), Rep. Tom Cotton (AR-4), Rep. Tom McClintock (CA-4), Rep. Ron DeSantis (FL-6), and Rep. John Garamendi (CA-3).
