Legislative Update for Week Ending July 4, 2014

This week, action on Capitol Hill slowed down as Members of Congress adjourned for a week-long holiday recess.

Congress Adjourns for Holiday Recess

Lawmakers returned to their home states and districts this week to celebrate the July 4th holiday. They are expected to return to Capitol Hill on Monday, July 7th. In the meantime, many Members of Congress will attend local events and hold town hall meetings. The Senior Citizens League (TSCL) encourages its members and supporters to attend town halls, since they are an excellent opportunity for constituents to voice their concerns and have their most pressing questions answered before the upcoming elections.

The following Members of Congress, among others, will hold town halls in the coming days: Sen. Jerry Moran (KS), Sen. Ron Wyden (OR), Sen. Mike Lee (UT), Sen. Ron Johnson (WI), Sen. Mike Crapo (ID), Rep. Susan Brooks (IN-5), Rep. Tim Huelskamp (KS-1), Rep. Leonard Lance (NJ-7), Rep. Scott Peters (CA-52), Rep. Keith Rothfus (PA-12), Rep. John Shimkus (IL-15), Rep. Adrian Smith (NE-3), Rep. John Barrow (GA-12), Rep. Todd Rokita (IN-4), Rep. Jim Sensenbrenner (WI-5), Rep. Suzanne Bonamici (OR-1), and Rep. Mick Mulvaney (SC-5).
