Legislative Update for Week Ending December 16, 2016

Late last week, after adopting legislation to temporarily fund the federal government past December 9th, lawmakers in the House and Senate adjourned for the remainder of the year.

114th Congress Comes to Close

The 114th Congress came to a close this week as lawmakers in the House and Senate returned to their home states and districts for the remainder of the year. They are expected to return to Capitol Hill on January 3rd to begin the 115th Congress.

In the meantime, The Senior Citizens League (TSCL) will be monitoring discussions in Washington about the legislative priorities of the new Congress, including a repeal of the Affordable Care Act, the potential privatization of the Medicare program, and comprehensive Social Security reform.
