The fall recess continued this week, and action on Capitol Hill remained slow.
Pre-Election Recess Continues
Members of the House and Senate remained in their home states and districts to focus on the upcoming mid-term elections, which will occur on Tuesday, November 4th. Lawmakers are expected to return to Washington following the elections for a “lame duck” session.
Until then, many Members of Congress will attend local events and hold town hall meetings. The Senior Citizens League (TSCL) urges its members and supporters to attend town halls in the coming weeks, since they are an excellent opportunity for constituents to communicate with their elected officials and have their most pressing concerns addressed.
The following Members of Congress, among others, will hold town halls this week: Sen. Jerry Moran (KS), Sen. Michael Crapo (ID), Rep. Frank Lucas (OK-3), Rep. Mick Mulvaney (SC-5), Rep. Matt Salmon (AZ-5), Rep. Jim Bridenstine (OK-1), Rep. Eleanor Holmes Norton (DC), Rep. Donna Edwards (MD-4), and Rep. Susan Brooks (IN-5).
