This week, action on Capitol Hill remained slow as the August recess continued.
Lawmakers Remain in Recess
The month-long August recess continued this week, and Members of the House and Senate remained in their home states and districts. They are expected to return to Washington on Monday, September 9th. Until then, many Members of Congress will attend local events and hold town hall meetings. The Senior Citizens League (TSCL) urges its members and supporters to attend town halls in the coming weeks, since they are an excellent opportunity for constituents to communicate with their elected officials and have their concerns addressed before the November elections.
The following Members of Congress, among others, will hold town halls in the days ahead: Sen. Johnny Isakson (GA), Sen. Pat Roberts (KS), Sen. Mike Lee (UT), Sen. Jerry Moran (KS), Rep. Donna Edwards (MD-4), Rep. Tom Reed (NY-23), Rep. Keith Rothfus (PA-12), Rep. Brad Sherman (CA-30), Rep. Diane Black (TN-6), Rep. Peter DeFazio (OR-4), Rep. Brett Guthrie (KY-2), Rep. Michael Honda (CA-17), Rep. Tom McClintock (CA-4), Rep. Scott Tipton (CO-3), Rep. Rob Woodall (GA-7), Rep. Joe Barton (TX-6), Rep. Larry Bucshon (IN-8), Rep. Tom Cole (OK-4), Rep. Sam Farr (CA-20), and Rep. Gene Green (TX-29).
