Action remained slow on Capitol Hill this week as the August recess continued.
Month-long Recess Nears End
Members of the House and Senate remained in their home states and districts this week for the final days of the August recess. Lawmakers are expected to return to Capitol Hill on Monday, September 9th, to resume work on a stopgap spending measure. In the meantime, many Members of Congress will be holding town hall meetings or attending local events. The Senior Citizens League (TSCL) encourages its members and supporters to attend these events in the coming days, since they are an excellent opportunity for constituents to communicate with their elected officials and have their concerns addressed before the November elections.
The following Members of Congress, among others, will hold town hall meetings this weekend: Sen. Johnny Isakson (GA), Rep. Kevin Cramer (ND), Rep. Keith Rothfus (PA-12), Rep. Diana DeGette (CO-1), Rep. Beto O’Rourke (TX-16), and Rep. David Valadao (CA-21).
