This week, action on Capitol Hill slowed down as Members of Congress adjourned for the holiday recess.
Lawmakers Begin Holiday Recess
Lawmakers returned to their home states and districts this week to celebrate the Independence Day holiday. They are expected to return to Washington on Tuesday, July 7th. Until then, many will attend local events and hold town hall meetings. The Senior Citizens League urges its members and supporters to attend these events, since they are an excellent opportunity for constituents to voice their Social Security and Medicare concerns.
The following Members of Congress, among others, will hold town halls in the coming days: Sen. Mike Crapo (ID), Sen. Chuck Grassley (IA), Sen. Jeff Merkley (OR), Sen. Ron Wyden (OR), Rep. Dave Loebsack (IA-2), Rep. Brad Sherman (CA-30), Rep. Jim Sensenbrenner (WI-5), Rep. Hakeem Jeffries (NY-8), Rep. Ken Buck (CO-4), Rep. Lynn Jenkins (KS-2), and Rep. Pete Aguilar (CA-31).
