Marie Smith
O. Marie Smith joined TREA: The Enlisted Association in 1983 and has served on the National Auxiliary Board of Directors from 1983-1989 and again in 1989 to 1995, serving last as National Auxiliary President. There she created the Widows Emergency Assistance Fund.
Marie’s career has spanned over 33 years, first as teaching Radiology Technician at Waltham Hospital in Massachusetts from 1963 to 1967 and later to Radiology, as the Purchasing and Central Services Manager at Immunology and Respiratory Institute from 1968 to 1985.
She earned an Associate Degree in Radiology Technology in 1980 and in 1983 a Bachelor of Science Degree with double majors, Health Care Management and Personnel and Manpower Management from Metropolitan University in Denver.
Her spouse’s promotion required moving to Grand Junction, Colorado where from 1989 to 1997 Ms. Smith worked as a Contract Administrator, Small Business Advocate and Procurement Supervisor for the Department of Energy in Grand Junction, Colorado.
Finally - as congress directed - from 1998 to 2002 she worked for the Department of Defense for Base Realignment and Closures (BRAC Teams) at Kelly AFB in San Antonio, Texas as Senior Contract Administrator on changing to Port San Antonio. There she retired.
