If adopted, H.R. 1553 would base annual Social Security cost-of-living adjustments (COLAs) on the Consumer Price Index for Elderly Consumers (CPI-E).
Representative John Garamendi (CA-3) introduced H.R. 1553 on March 6, 2019. It has since been referred to the Committee on Ways and Means.
