This week, action on Capitol Hill was slow as Members of Congress remained in their home states and districts for the final week of the August recess.
Month-Long Recess Nears its End
Members of the House and Senate are expected to return to Washington on Monday, September 9th. Many Members of Congress will spend the final weekend of the month-long recess attending local events and holding town hall meetings. The Senior Citizens League (TSCL) urges its members and supporters to attend town halls this weekend, since they are an excellent opportunity for constituents to voice their concerns and have their most pressing questions answered.
The following Members of Congress, among others, will hold town halls this weekend: Reps. Kevin Cramer (ND), Jerry McNerney (CA-9), John Shimkus (IL-15), Tim Walz (MN-1), Judy Chu (CA-27), Diana DeGette (CO-1), Joseph Kennedy III (MA-4), and Marc Veasey (TX-33).
