Legislative Update for Week Ending August 24, 2012

This week, The Senior Citizens League (TSCL) successfully hosted its first ever town hall meeting. Meanwhile, action on Capitol Hill remained slow as Members of both Houses of Congress remained in their home states and districts for the August recess.

TSCL Hosts NC Town Hall

On Thursday, TSCL held its first ever town hall meeting with great success in North Carolina's 11th Congressional District. TSCL would like to thank Congressional Candidate Mark Meadows for taking time out of his busy schedule to address concerned members and supporters.

TSCL plans to continue hosting town hall meetings in the future. If you are interested in helping us plan a meeting in your area, click HERE.

August Recess Continues

TSCL would like to remind you that Members of both the House and the Senate will remain in their home states and districts until Monday, September 10th. We encourage you to contact your Members of Congress to request their support for fair cost-of-living adjustments, Notch fairness, and other issues affecting seniors.

Many Members of Congress will hold town hall meetings throughout the recess, giving voters an excellent opportunity to voice their views and concerns. In the upcoming week, the following Members of Congress, among others, will hold town halls in their states and districts.

  • Sen. John Hoeven (ND)
  • Sen. Mark Begich (AK)
  • Rep. Suzanne Bonamici (OR-1)
  • Rep. Brad Sherman (CA-27)
  • Rep. Sam Farr (CA-17)
  • Rep. Joe Barton (TX-6)
  • Rep. Lynn Jenkins (KS-2)
  • Rep. Jared Polis (CO-2)
  • Rep. Charles Bass (CA-33)
